Here is an example of one such installation.
A large internet hosting datacentre wanted to implement centralised backup in order to reduce their operational costs, as well as generating incremental revenue by offering a value-added service to their customers.DataEngines | ENSTOR was approached to design a solution that could deliver these results without compromising the security of the facility. This was a critical issue for the datacentre, as they were just as concerned with protecting each of their customers against hacking from their other customers as well as from the internet. In several cases they were hosting servers from competitive companies literally "side by side" in adjacent racks within the same facility.
The data to be protected was distributed fairly evenly across a large number of servers, making a dedicated LAN for backup the ideal solution - albeit with a requirement for some custom security measures thrown in!

Since installation the backup solution has been expanded considerably and today protects more than 150 servers. Manual tape changing has been virtually eliminated from the datacentre and the backup solution is also producing a reliable revenue stream for the hosting company.Search the Data Engines Site
